My article “El Sistema, ‘El milagro musical venezolano’: La construcción de un mito global” has just been published in the online review Trópico Absoluto.
I am now working as Director of Research of the music charity Agrigento, while continuing as Professor of Music at Royal Holloway, University of London.
I am also a co-investigator on the 3-year international research project on the social impact of making music, based at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
I will be giving three keynote talks over the coming months.
My first book, Imposing Harmony: Music and Society in Colonial Cuzco (Duke University Press, 2008), has just been published in Spanish translation by the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, under the title of Armonía dominante. Música y sociedad en el Cusco colonial. There are digital and physical versions.
I have created a new section of this website called “El Sistema – KEY RESOURCES.”
A complete archive of my English posts is now available at El Sistema blog.
Some posts are translated into Spanish. They are archived at El Sistema blog en español.
I have closed my other website, tocarypensar.com.
